Excerpt from Genealogical and Biographical Sketch of the Name and Family of Richardson: From the Year 1720 to the Year 1860 In collecting information relative to the Richardson Family, I have in several instances continued the names of the children, even after they have been lost in marriage. This has been done because Mr. Richardson, the ancestor, having arrived in this country only one hundred and thirty years ago, has not now many descendants bearing his own name; having had but five grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. In my investigations, have not been actuated by any foolish pride to show a descent from some titled personage of the Old World, but only to collect true facts. It has been always a source of regret that information was not gained from Mr. Jeffrey Richardson, who died in 1805, relating to his ancestors, but such were the busy and stirring scenes of that period of our country, that little attention was given to pedigree and ancestry.
