Scalable Shared Memory Multiprocessors

Scalable Shared Memory Multiprocessors PDF Author: Michel Dubois
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1461536049
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 326

Book Description
The workshop on Scalable Shared Memory Multiprocessors took place on May 26 and 27 1990 at the Stouffer Madison Hotel in Seattle, Washington as a prelude to the 1990 International Symposium on Computer Architecture. About 100 participants listened for two days to the presentations of 22 invited The motivation for this workshop was to speakers, from academia and industry. promote the free exchange of ideas among researchers working on shared-memory multiprocessor architectures. There was ample opportunity to argue with speakers, and certainly participants did not refrain a bit from doing so. Clearly, the problem of scalability in shared-memory multiprocessors is still a wide-open question. We were even unable to agree on a definition of "scalability". Authors had more than six months to prepare their manuscript, and therefore the papers included in this proceedings are refinements of the speakers' presentations, based on the criticisms received at the workshop. As a result, 17 authors contributed to these proceedings. We wish to thank them for their diligence and care. The contributions in these proceedings can be partitioned into four categories 1. Access Order and Synchronization 2. Performance 3. Cache Protocols and Architectures 4. Distributed Shared Memory Particular topics on which new ideas and results are presented in these proceedings include: efficient schemes for combining networks, formal specification of shared memory models, correctness of trace-driven simulations, synchronization, various coherence protocols, .

Book Description
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 9th Asia-Pacific Computer Systems Architecture Conference, ACSAC 2004, held in Beijing, China in September 2004. The 45 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 154 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on cache and memory, reconfigurable and embedded architectures, processor architecture and design, power and energy management, compiler and operating systems issues, application-specific systems, interconnection networks, prediction techniques, parallel architectures and programming, microarchitecture design and evaluation, memory and I/O systems, and others.

OpenMP Shared Memory Parallel Programming

OpenMP Shared Memory Parallel Programming PDF Author: Rudolf Eigenmann
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3540445870
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 194

Book Description
This book contains the presentations given at the Workshop on OpenMP App- cations and Tools, WOMPAT 2001. The workshop was held on July 30 and 31, 2001 at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana, USA. It brought together designers, users, and researchers of the OpenMP application programming int- face. OpenMP has emerged as the standard for shared memory parallel progr- ming. For the rst time, it is possible to write parallel programs that are portable across the majority of shared memory parallel computers. WOMPAT 2001 s- ved as a forum for all those interested in OpenMP and allowed them to meet, share ideas and experiences, and discuss the latest developments of OpenMP and its applications. WOMPAT 2001 was co-sponsored by the OpenMP Architecture Review Board (ARB). It followed a series of workshops on OpenMP, including WOMPAT 2000, EWOMP 2000, and WOMPEI 2000. For WOMPAT 2001, we solicited papers formally and published them in the form of this book. The authors submitted extended abstracts, which were reviewed by the program committee. All submitted papers were accepted. The authors were asked to prepare a nal paper in which they addressed the reviewers comments. The proceedings, in the form of this book, were created in time to be available at the workshop. In this way, we hope to have brought out a timely report of ongoing OpenMP-related research and development e orts as well as ideas for future improvements.

Languages, Compilers, and Run-Time Systems for Scalable Computers

Languages, Compilers, and Run-Time Systems for Scalable Computers PDF Author: David O'Hallaron
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3540495304
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 420

Book Description
This book constitutes the strictly refereed post-workshop proceedings of the 4th International Workshop on Languages, Compilers, and Run-Time Systems for Scalable Computing, LCR '98, held in Pittsburgh, PA, USA in May 1998. The 23 revised full papers presented were carefully selected from a total of 47 submissions; also included are nine refereed short papers. All current issues of developing software systems for parallel and distributed computers are covered, in particular irregular applications, automatic parallelization, run-time parallelization, load balancing, message-passing systems, parallelizing compilers, shared memory systems, client server applications, etc.

Shared Memory Multiprocessing

Shared Memory Multiprocessing PDF Author: Norihisa Suzuki
Publisher: MIT Press
ISBN: 9780262193221
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 534

Book Description
Shared memory multiprocessors are becoming the dominant architecture for small-scale parallel computation. This book is the first to provide a coherent review of current research in shared memory multiprocessing in the United States and Japan. It focuses particularly on scalable architecture that will be able to support hundreds of microprocessors as well as on efficient and economical ways of connecting these fast microprocessors. The 20 contributions are divided into sections covering the experience to date with multiprocessors, cache coherency, software systems, and examples of scalable shared memory multiprocessors.

Distributed Algorithms

Distributed Algorithms PDF Author: Sam Toueg
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9783540552369
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 340

Book Description
This volume contains the proceedings of the fifth International Workshop on Distributed Algorithms (WDAG '91) held in Delphi, Greece, in October 1991. The workshop provided a forum for researchers and others interested in distributed algorithms, communication networks, and decentralized systems. The aim was to present recent research results, explore directions for future research, and identify common fundamental techniques that serve as building blocks in many distributed algorithms. The volume contains 23 papers selected by the Program Committee from about fifty extended abstracts on the basis of perceived originality and quality and on thematic appropriateness and topical balance. The workshop was organizedby the Computer Technology Institute of Patras University, Greece.
