Book Description
In this second chronicle about Deborah, she faces an enemy whose sole purpose is to kill every human being in the universe. The location of the enemy's home planets is unknown. This enemy has unlimited ships and no concern about the high losses to their personnel. The initial evaluation is that the enemy may not even be human. They are given the name, Grays. A creature like the Grays seems rather harmless compared to what fiction shows you. The Grays went unchallenged only because they looked so weak and fragile. No one saw them as a serious threat. I can only think of the army ants on the march. No one takes an ant seriously; however, an army of ants will devastate an area and kill every living creature. The Grays are the same type of threat to mankind. As the Grays are building up their fleets and personnel, Deborah desperately searches the known universe for additional personnel; in this search she even goes to primitive nations. The United States strips its military forces to provide as many personnel as possible. Despite this effort, there are still not enough personnel. Deborah's scientists are working around the clock to not only upgrade her weapons, but also provide her with new types of weapons. Ramah and the United States are making a maximum effort to prepare for the upcoming battle with the Grays. In this battle either the humans or the Grays will become extinct.

DFSMShsm Fast Replication Technical Guide

DFSMShsm Fast Replication Technical Guide PDF Author: Keith Winnard
Publisher: IBM Redbooks
ISBN: 0738440647
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 286

Book Description
DFSMShsm fast replication provides DFSMShsm management for the use of volume-level fast replication. Fast replication is made possible by using the FlashCopy® capability of storage servers. With this capability, a set of storage groups can be defined as a copy pool. The volumes in this pool are processed collectively creating, by fast replication, backup versions that are managed by DFSMShsm. Recovery can be performed at the volume or copy pool level. This capability is designed to work specifically with DB2® Version 8 or later. With DFSMShsm fast replication, the backup and recovery of DB2 copy pools can be managed by DFSMShsm. DFSMShsm fast replication provides a quick, easy-to-use backup and recovery solution. This IBM® Redbooks® publication consists of a technical overview of the DFSMShsm fast replication function in z/OS® V1R12 Data Facility Storage Management Subsystem (DFSMS). It provides you with the information that you need to understand and evaluate the function, with practical implementation hints and tips. This book is written for storage professionals, database administrators, and system programmers who have experience with the components of DFSMS. It provides sufficient information for you to implement the DFSMShsm fast replication function in your storage environment.

IBM Sterling Managed File Transfer Integration with WebSphere Connectivity for a Multi-Enterprise Solution

IBM Sterling Managed File Transfer Integration with WebSphere Connectivity for a Multi-Enterprise Solution PDF Author: Jennifer Foley
Publisher: IBM Redbooks
ISBN: 0738435368
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 448

Book Description
This IBM® Redbooks® publication describes how IBM has enhanced its managed file transfer portfolio consisting of MQ File Transfer Edition with the Sterling Business Integration Suite. The Sterling Business Integration Suite consists of Sterling File Gateway and Sterling Connect:Direct. Sterling Commerce, an IBM company, transforms and optimizes your business collaboration network by improving business agility, efficiency, and performance. These managed file transfer components from Sterling Commerce, an IBM company, partnered with MQ File Transfer Edition deliver proven value by protecting privacy and integrity of data in transit with governance, eliminate operations cell center traffic regarding file transfer exceptions, show a faster time to revenue, and bring a six-sigma level performance to key business processes. The integration and combination of these products allows for organizations to switch between protocols internally, allowing for diversity across business needs while still positioning the organization to easily move files outside their secured intra-enterprise network through an edge server to the external trading partner regardless of what protocol the external trading partner is using. This book is intended for organizations that find themselves wanting to trade data in a secure, reliable, and auditable way across both intra-enterprise and multi-enterprise protocols.

Nonnegative Matrix and Tensor Factorizations

Nonnegative Matrix and Tensor Factorizations PDF Author: Andrzej Cichocki
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 9780470747285
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 500

Book Description
This book provides a broad survey of models and efficient algorithms for Nonnegative Matrix Factorization (NMF). This includes NMF’s various extensions and modifications, especially Nonnegative Tensor Factorizations (NTF) and Nonnegative Tucker Decompositions (NTD). NMF/NTF and their extensions are increasingly used as tools in signal and image processing, and data analysis, having garnered interest due to their capability to provide new insights and relevant information about the complex latent relationships in experimental data sets. It is suggested that NMF can provide meaningful components with physical interpretations; for example, in bioinformatics, NMF and its extensions have been successfully applied to gene expression, sequence analysis, the functional characterization of genes, clustering and text mining. As such, the authors focus on the algorithms that are most useful in practice, looking at the fastest, most robust, and suitable for large-scale models. Key features: Acts as a single source reference guide to NMF, collating information that is widely dispersed in current literature, including the authors’ own recently developed techniques in the subject area. Uses generalized cost functions such as Bregman, Alpha and Beta divergences, to present practical implementations of several types of robust algorithms, in particular Multiplicative, Alternating Least Squares, Projected Gradient and Quasi Newton algorithms. Provides a comparative analysis of the different methods in order to identify approximation error and complexity. Includes pseudo codes and optimized MATLAB source codes for almost all algorithms presented in the book. The increasing interest in nonnegative matrix and tensor factorizations, as well as decompositions and sparse representation of data, will ensure that this book is essential reading for engineers, scientists, researchers, industry practitioners and graduate students across signal and image processing; neuroscience; data mining and data analysis; computer science; bioinformatics; speech processing; biomedical engineering; and multimedia.
