Book Description
In Matthew 10:32 Jesus states, "Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven." (NASB). 52 pickup:These are the words I give to you to share with everyone contains my testimony, how the book came about and a collection of 52 God inspired poems. The 52 poems are based on everyday events in my life since accepting Christ as my savior in August 2007. The poems cover such topics as Anger, Temptation, and Bitterness to name a few. The target audience for 52 Pickup is anyone looking for devotionals to use in a small group, as ministry and sermon ideas, or just be inspired by Gods words. Every story is inspired by God; I was just the person who typed the words. I would read or see some key words, and then all of a sudden I would be writing a story. After the story was done, I would read it and know that God had inspired it. There has been little altering or proofreading. Ive included with each poem, scripture to reference, and a Story Behind the Poem. These are brief snippets I captured at the time trying to explain the situation that inspired the writing. Some are more in-depth than others, but meant to communicate was happening at the time. The book also showed me God has a sense of humor. I always wanted to own an old truck, when he revealed the details including name of the book, I laughed! I got my 52 pickup truck, it was not what I expected. It is my hope the poems in 52 pickup will inspire you as much as they have me! Scripture quotations taken from the NASB The Lockman Foundation (http://www.lockman.org )

The Story of the B-52s
Author: Scott Creney
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3031225708
Category : Music
Languages : en
Pages : 260
Book Description
The Story of the B-52s: Neon Side of Town is the first critical history of one of the most legendary and influential bands in American popular music. Locating The B-52s in the intellectual climate of their hometown of Athens, GA and following the band from New York’s downtown scene in the early 1980s to their upcoming farewell tour, the book argues that The B-52s are much more significant political and musical influences on American society than their reputation as a silly party band suggests, and that their ongoing commitment to values including cooperation, mutual support, and using disruptive fun as a form of social change are an antidote to the neoliberalization sweeping both Athens and the rest of the Western world. For example, the book shows how the band synthesized influences from the modern artists displayed at the University of Georgia art museum, early queer activism on campus in the 1970s, and their experiences as queer people living through the AIDS crisis to create music that continues to be artistically and politically influential today. The authors are active members of the Athens, GA music scene, and the book includes original interviews with a range of number close to the band.

The 52 Weeks
Author: Karen Amster-Young
Publisher: Simon and Schuster
ISBN: 1626365024
Category : Self-Help
Languages : en
Pages : 236
Book Description
Edging into forty-something, Karen and Pam found themselves in a state of stuck. They had checked off many of their major life goals—career, husband, children, friends—but they’d lost momentum. After griping over drinks one night, they came up with a plan to face their fears, rediscover their interests, try new things, and renew their relationships. They challenged themselves to try one new thing every week for a year—from test-driving a Maserati to target practice at a shooting range to ballroom dance lessons—and to blog about their journeys. They quickly realized it was harder than they ever imagined but came through it with a sense of clarity and purpose that has them itching to share the possibilities with the millions of middle-aged women out there who feel the same way about one or many areas of their lives. Getting "unstuck" doesn’t have to mean running a marathon, traveling the world, or ending a relationship with your partner. Through their experiences and a good dose of no-nonsense advice, Karen and Pam show readers how achieving small goals can give you a renewed sense of accomplishment and how you can keep growing, learning, and moving forward at any age. Interspersed with personal stories is expert advice from doctors, psychiatrists, artists, and even a poker diva (who also happens to be a Fortune 500 executive).

I'm Free, I'm Free, I'm Free: Now What?
Author: Janet McCart
Publisher: Publication Consultants
ISBN: 159433482X
Category : Humor
Languages : en
Pages : 156
Book Description
If you've just graduated, or if you haven't--if you're going to advanced school, or if you aren't--if you're setting things in motion to strike out on your own--or if you blew the first or second go at liberty and having your own living space--you're in the right place. If you are serious about rules and guidelines and closets and all the details, go see Martha. If you'd prefer some easy-going, mildly cynical guidance, I'm Free, I'm Free, I'm Free: Now What? is for you. Align the Law of ‘what goes up must come down' with the Golden Rule. Now add beds, moving, bills, friends, food poisoning, cleaning, toilets, money, rentals, baseline manners, and roommates, and you have a pretty good idea where we're going here. The bottom line of I'm Free, I'm Free, I'm Free: Now What? is to help you become sort-of informed so that you decide, and whatever happens, it's your fault.
