Book Description
The 4x4 Project invited four leading designers, celebrated for their experimental work in 3D, to create new pieces on the theme of "Geometry and Chaos". Brian Taylor is the creator of Rustboy.com and XL5design.com Nathan Flood is the creator of Nginco.com Tom Muller is the creator of XimeraLabs.com Dave Smith is the creator of DeepSeat.net In this book, you'll find the information and the inspiration to bend tools to your own ends. The designers describe how they use applications like 3ds max, Carrara Studio, and Strata 3D to create the components for their final images, before processing them with Photoshop to add depth, color, texture, and complexity. This book immerses the reader in the four phases of the process: Theory: personal accounts of the creative process, manifestos, diaries, mental sketchbooks, and associated ephemera "Geometry and Chaos": the finished original art works Process: detailed, first-hand technical descriptions of the creation of each piece, along with original source files on the accompanying CD Noise and interference: the four designers discuss, sample, and remix their colleagues' work

Object-Oriented and Mixed Programming Paradigms

Object-Oriented and Mixed Programming Paradigms PDF Author: Peter Wisskirchen
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3642610625
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 196

Book Description
The area of computer graphics is characterized by rapid evolution. New techniques in hardware and software developments, e. g. , new rendering methods, have led to new ap plications and broader acceptance of graphics in fields such as scientific visualization, multi-media applications, computer aided design, and virtual reality systems. The evolving functionality and the growing complexity of graphics algorithms and sys tems make it more difficult for the application programmer to take full advantage of these systems. Conventional programming methods are no longer suited to manage the increasing complexity, so new programming paradigms and system architectures are re quired. One important step in this direction is the introduction and use of object-oriented methods. Intuition teils us that visible graphical entities are objects, and experience has indeed shown that object-oriented software techniques are quite useful for graphics. The expressiveness of object-oriented languages compared to pure procedurallanguages gives the graphics application programmer much better support when transforming his mental intentions into computer code. Moreover, object-oriented software development is a, weil founded technology, allowing software to be built from reusable and extensible compo nents. This book contains selected, reviewed and thoroughly revised vers ions of papers submit ted to and presented at the Fourth Eurographies Workshops on Object-Oriented Graphics, held on May 9-11, 1994 in Sintra, Portugal.

Analytic Hyperbolic Geometry And Albert Einstein's Special Theory Of Relativity (Second Edition)

Analytic Hyperbolic Geometry And Albert Einstein's Special Theory Of Relativity (Second Edition) PDF Author: Abraham Albert Ungar
Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 981124412X
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 775

Book Description
This book presents a powerful way to study Einstein's special theory of relativity and its underlying hyperbolic geometry in which analogies with classical results form the right tool. The premise of analogy as a study strategy is to make the unfamiliar familiar. Accordingly, this book introduces the notion of vectors into analytic hyperbolic geometry, where they are called gyrovectors. Gyrovectors turn out to be equivalence classes that add according to the gyroparallelogram law just as vectors are equivalence classes that add according to the parallelogram law. In the gyrolanguage of this book, accordingly, one prefixes a gyro to a classical term to mean the analogous term in hyperbolic geometry. As an example, the relativistic gyrotrigonometry of Einstein's special relativity is developed and employed to the study of the stellar aberration phenomenon in astronomy.Furthermore, the book presents, for the first time, the relativistic center of mass of an isolated system of noninteracting particles that coincided at some initial time t = 0. It turns out that the invariant mass of the relativistic center of mass of an expanding system (like galaxies) exceeds the sum of the masses of its constituent particles. This excess of mass suggests a viable mechanism for the formation of dark matter in the universe, which has not been detected but is needed to gravitationally 'glue' each galaxy in the universe. The discovery of the relativistic center of mass in this book thus demonstrates once again the usefulness of the study of Einstein's special theory of relativity in terms of its underlying hyperbolic geometry.

Geometric Computation: Foundations for Design

Geometric Computation: Foundations for Design PDF Author: Joy Ko
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1317659074
Category : Architecture
Languages : en
Pages : 741

Book Description
Geometric Computation: Foundations for Design describes the mathematical and computational concepts that are central to the practical application of design computation in a manner tailored to the visual designer. Uniquely pairing key topics in code and geometry, this book develops the two key faculties required by designers that seek to integrate computation into their creative practice: an understanding of the structure of code in object-oriented programming, and a proficiency in the fundamental geometric constructs that underlie much of the computational media in visual design.
