1001 Reasons to Be Thankful: (don't Buy This Book as It Might Make You Feel Better)

1001 Reasons to Be Thankful: (don't Buy This Book as It Might Make You Feel Better) PDF Author: Ashley a. Lenartson III
Publisher: Independently Published
ISBN: 9781797965628
Category : Bibles
Languages : en
Pages : 146

Book Description
I wrote this book for people with low self-esteem, who just got divorced, who have a drinking problem, have alcohol issues, etc. etc. 1001. You can go most anywhere you want anytime you want to.1000. You can be friends with just about anyone who fits your cup of tea. Nobody says you have to befriend somebody who turns out to be a "passive aggressive ahole." Cut the ties before the two of you start arguing with each other all the time.999. You have a right to not get a job. Get a disability check or go hungry and be forced to get a job that you hate. If you're going to get a job, then make sure it is something that you'd like to do that you'll be o.k. with 3 weeks down the road. You can always get a job doing something else until you find out what really floats your boat. Until then just hang in there.998. You have a right to not pay your bills. Most people die hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt. That's just life: remember that you are E X P E N S I V E. 997. You can choose to live on the streets if you want to. I've done it before. I learned that it costs just as much to live on the streets as it does to be housed. So, stop being a pussy and make decisions that make things o.k. for you: this means getting anybody out of your life that keeps causing your problems and clearing up issues right away with people who don't do what they're supposed to do when they're supposed to do it: this includes roommates, lovers, employers, etc.996. You can go back to school if you want to. You can do that at any point in your life. It's truly & totally up to you.995. You can get your G.E.D. = General Education Degree994. You can choose to eat only Vegetarian Food. Just remember that the hardest thing to digest is meat and that keeping white things out of your diet is a good thing to do: flour, dairy, sugar, junk food, etc. This doesn't mean that you can't cheat every now and then.993. When somebody threatens you with violent words you can say, "Is that a threat of a good time?" They'll respond and say whatever they want to and you can say, "Hey, I'm not interested in you sexually so why don't we just end this right now."992. If you are not a happy person, then the only person who can make you happy is YOU! Make a list of what things make you miserable and turn that around in your head: 991. You can choose to go hunting for red meat when you want to. Do you know what I'm saying: maybe you are sexually deprived or you just need more iron in your body.990. You can choose to go fishing in a brook, lake, river or stream when you want to. Just make sure you have all the things you need to get the job done and that you've got your license to fish in the brook.998. When somebody calls you about a bill that you owe you have a right not to pay that bill especially if the Debt Collector has been harassing you since you incurred the debt. In Maine, a debt does not have to be payed off after 6 years of being in Collections. Just make sure that you don't admit to owing the debt as it will go right back into collections and the Debt Collector will keep calling you and after 3 calls it's considered "harassment." Then you have the right to tell them to stop calling you and that this call is being logged in in my journal. Don't make debts that you can't afford to pay off: just make sure that you incur as little debt as possible with your life.

Thanks for Watching

Thanks for Watching PDF Author: Patricia G. Lange
Publisher: University Press of Colorado
ISBN: 1646420098
Category : Social Science
Languages : en
Pages : 363

Book Description
YouTube hosts one billion visitors monthly and sees more than 400 hours of video uploaded every minute. In her award winning book, Thanks for Watching, Patricia G. Lange offers an anthropological perspective on this heavily mediated social environment by analyzing videos and the emotions that motivate sharing them. She demonstrates how core concepts from anthropology—participant-observation, reciprocity, and community—apply to sociality on YouTube. Lange's book reconceptualizes and updates these concepts for video-sharing cultures. Lange draws on 152 interviews with YouTube participants at gatherings throughout the United States, content analyses of more than 300 videos, observations of interactions on and off the site, and participant-observation. She documents how the introduction of monetization options impacted perceived opportunities for open sharing and creative exploration of personal and social messages. Lange’s book provides new insight into patterns of digital migration, YouTube’s influence on off-site interactions, and the emotional impact of losing control over images. The book also debunks traditional myths about online interaction, such as the supposed online/offline binary, the notion that anonymity always degrades public discourse, and the popular characterization of online participants as over-sharing narcissists. YouTubers' experiences illustrate fascinating hybrid forms of contemporary sociality that are neither purely mediated nor sufficient when conducted only in person. Combining intensive ethnography, analysis of video artifacts, and Lange’s personal vlogging experiences, the book explores how YouTubers are creating a posthuman collective characterized by interaction, support, and controversy. In analyzing the tensions between YouTubers' idealistic goals of sociality and the site's need for monetization, Thanks for Watching makes crucial contributions to cultural anthropology, digital ethnography, science and technology studies, new media studies, communication, interaction design, and posthumanism. For its perceptive analysis of video blogging for self-expression and sociality, Thanks for Watching received the Franklyn S. Haiman Award for Distinguished Scholarship in Freedom of Expression (2020), from the National Communication Association.

Words Of Gratitude Mind Body & Soul

Words Of Gratitude Mind Body & Soul PDF Author: Robert A. Emmons
Publisher: Templeton Foundation Press
ISBN: 1932031030
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 114

Book Description
"The test of all happiness,” said G.K. Chesterton, “is gratitude." Learning to experience gratitude involves being grateful as an attitude, not as a reaction when good things occur. To be grateful, one does not need to wait until things are perfect. In fact, practicing gratitude makes one receptive to life's blessings, and these blessings continue as we continue to be thankful. In one study, described by author Robert Emmons, participants who wrote about five things for which they were grateful experienced more positive emotional states and were more likely to help others over a period of ten weeks than were participants who wrote about the hassles and stressors they experienced during the same time. "Love wholeheartedly,” says Brother David Steindl-Rast, “be surprised, give thanks and praise—then you will discover the fullness of your life." Gratitude provides gifts to both the giver and the receiver, and this illuminating book will inspire readers to recognize just how truly blessed we are.

Grateful

Grateful PDF Author: Diana Butler Bass
Publisher: HarperCollins
ISBN: 0062659510
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 256

Book Description
The Wilbur Award-winning book Grateful is now available in paperback and with an updated subtitle. If gratitude is good, why is it so hard to do? In Grateful, Diana Butler Bass untangles our conflicting understandings of gratitude and sets the table for a renewed practice of giving thanks. We know that gratitude is good, but many of us find it hard to sustain a meaningful life of gratefulness. Four out of five Americans report feeling gratitude on a regular basis, but those private feelings seem disconnected from larger concerns of our public lives. In Grateful, cultural observer and theologian Diana Butler Bass takes on this “gratitude gap” and offers up surprising, relevant, and powerful insights to practice gratitude. Bass, author of the award-winning Grounded and ten other books on spirituality and culture, explores the transformative, subversive power of gratitude for our personal lives and in communities. Using her trademark blend of historical research, spiritual insights, and timely cultural observation, she shows how we can overcome this gap and make change in our own lives and in the world. With honest stories and heartrending examples from history and her own life, Bass reclaims gratitude as a path to greater connection with god, with others, with the world, and even with our own souls. It’s time to embrace a more radical practice of gratitude—the virtue that heals us and helps us thrive.
