Pages : 44
Book Description
The conference on corporate contributions to higher education was held at Arden House, Harriman, New York, beginning on March 31, through April 1 and 2, 1955. The four panel groups held discussion of the agenda topics and drew up a formal report. In the plenary session, these reports were discussed, where a surprising but gratifying unanimity was reached on most of fundamental points. Through thorough discussion, the plenary session attempted to reach a similar consensus on the matters not agreed upon in the four group reports.

The Lost Promise
Author: Ellen Schrecker
Publisher: University of Chicago Press
ISBN: 022620085X
Category : Education
Languages : en
Pages : 632
Book Description
"Ellen Schrecker shows how universities shaped the 1960s, and how the 1960s shaped them. Teach-ins and walkouts-in institutions large and small, across both the country and the political spectrum-were only the first actions that came to redefine universities as hotbeds of unrest for some and handmaidens of oppression for others. The tensions among speech, education, and institutional funding came into focus as never before-and the reverberations remain palpable today"--
