Pipefitters Handbook

Pipefitters Handbook PDF Author: Forrest R. Lindsey
Publisher: Martino Fine Books
ISBN: 9781614273295
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 420

Book Description
2012 Reprint of 1959 Edition. Exact facsimile of the original edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. This manual is written especially to enable pipefitters to quickly solve problems involving pipe bending, layout or installation, either in shop or in the field. This second edition has 126 pages of additional material than published in the previous edition of 1953. A large part of the book is taken directly from the author's original tables which he has developed over a long period of time, as a result of his 35 years' experience as a pipefitter. These tables eliminate the necessity for making lengthy calculations by giving immediate answers to all kinds of pipe fitting problems. Information on: Pipe Bending, Offsets, Mitered Joints, Standard Pipe Dimensions and Thread Data, Screwed Fittings, Valves, Solder Joint Fittings, Plastic Pipe, Sheet Metal Data, Properties of Steam, Melting Points, Conversion Factors and a Dictionary Of Terms.

Design and Control of Self-organizing Systems

Design and Control of Self-organizing Systems PDF Author: Carlos Gershenson
Publisher: CopIt ArXives
ISBN: 0983117233
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 189

Book Description
Complex systems are usually difficult to design and control. There are several particular methods for coping with complexity, but there is no general approach to build complex systems. In this book I propose a methodology to aid engineers in the design and control of complex systems. This is based on the description of systems as self-organizing. Starting from the agent metaphor, the methodology proposes a conceptual framework and a series of steps to follow to find proper mechanisms that will promote elements to find solutions by actively interacting among themselves.

The Art of Welding

The Art of Welding PDF Author: William Galvery
Publisher:
ISBN: 9780831134754
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 0

Book Description
Ryan Friedlinghaus, the celebrated guru of automotive customization and host of West Coast Customs on Fox Sports, adds practical knowledge to William Galvery's acclaimed welding insight and everyday tips and tricks developed over his long professional career as an educator. Provides in-depth coverage of the equipment and techniques used in the most popular welding processes: oxyacetylene, stick welding, MIG welding and TIG welding. Presents information in a lively, easy-to-follow design. Each chapter contains the pros and cons of each process and information on equipment, setup, materials, safety and welding techniques. To provide a solid footing for the novice welder, there is a chapter that provides an overview of welding and another on tools and materials. The bulk of the book is devoted to the more popular welding techniques. The authors also provide a chapter on soldering and brazing and another on plasma cutting.

Propagation of Sound in Porous Media

Propagation of Sound in Porous Media PDF Author: J.F. Allard
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9401118663
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 296

Book Description
This book has grown out of the research activities of the author in the fields of sound propagation in porous media and modelling of acoustic materials. It is assumed that the reader has a background of advanced calculus, including an introduction to differential equations, complex variables and matrix algebra. A prior exposure to theory of elasticity would be advantageous. Chapters 1-3 deal with sound propagation of plane waves in solids and fluids, and the topics of acoustic impedance and reflection coefficient are given a large emphasis. The topic of flow resistivity is presented in Chapter 2. Chapter 4 deals with sound propagation in porous materials having cylindrical pores. The topics of effective density, and of tortuosity, are presented. The thermal exchanges between the frame and the fluid, and the behaviour of the bulk modulus of the fluid, are described in this simple context. Chapter 5 is concerned with sound propagation in other porous materials, and the recent notions of characteristic dimensions, which describe thermal exchanges and the viscous forces at high frequencies, are introduced. In Chapter 6, the case of porous media having an elastic frame is considered in the context of Biot theory, where new topics described in Chapter 5 have been included.
